Book Spotlight
Title: Wet
Series: Love In Lone Star Book #1
Release Date: December 26, 2016

I’ve always been Miranda Phillips, the town pariah. Growing up with neglectful parents, having sought attention from all the guys that were willing to give it to me, I wasn't the most well-behaved kid in Lone Star. Not to mention all of the juvenile delinquent acts I’ve committed in my past.

But now I am Lone Star’s only reporter and I’ve come a long way from being that lost, troubled girl. Even if most of the town still judged me for it. I don’t allow anyone to get in the way of what I want. Including Ryan John. So when I corner him in a dark hallway and get him to succumb to the sizzling attraction between us, I know I’m playing with fire.

I’ve successfully avoided her for two months but I haven't forgotten how she tastes or what she feels like in my arms. And when I get sent a mysterious letter from some company wanting to buy my thousand shares of water rights that have been in my family for over a hundred years, I’m convinced that there is no one…err, better equipped, to help me than Lone Star's reporter, Miranda Phillips.

I know how desperately she wants me and this letter gives me all the reason I need to spend one night with the girl from the wrong side of town. One night in exchange for her tight investigative skills. And believe me, she's tight, in more ways than one. Just one night. Because Miranda is trouble and being on the city council, as well as guardian to my younger brother and sister, means I can't afford trouble.

Even if it comes packaged just the way I like.

something so perfect release day.jpg

Drafted first round pick when I was seventeen, playing first line at eighteen, branded NHL's bad boy at nineteen. At twenty-three I was cut from the team and living back home with my parents. A knock on the door brought an opportunity I couldn’t turn down. All I had to do was prove I learned from my mistakes, so no way would I fall for a chick with a pouty mouth even if I wanted to spend all day devouring it.

When my father gave me a job, I had no idea it would be to babysit some washed up NHL player. He wanted me to be his chaperone, his overpaid babysitter. I thought it was a joke. Then I met him, Matthew Grant. I wasn’t prepared for this particular bad boy. He’s not only hot but he’s arrogant and kinda sweet in a 'you make me crazy' kind of way.
Basically now that he’s finished screwing up his life, he’s decided to turn mine upside down.

She’s the first thing I’ve ever wanted more than hockey.

He’s the guy I know I should stay away from.

But what if this thing that started out so wrong turns into something so perfect?

When her nose isn't buried in a book, or her fingers flying across a keyboard writing, she's in the kitchen creating gourmet meals. You can find her, in four inch heels no less, in the car chauffeuring kids, or possibly with her husband scheduling his business trips. It's a good thing her characters do what she says, because even her Labrador doesn't listen to her...

Maggie by Violet Howe

I’ve fallen in love twice in my life.
The first time, I was nineteen. Naïve. Passionate. Willing to believe fairy tales existed.
The choices I made for love back then ruined my ballet career, destroyed my dreams, and left my heart shattered. I survived by closing myself off to any possibility of repeating the same mistakes.
This time, I’m forty-nine. Older. Wiser. Unwilling to give up my independence and risk losing myself again.
But this city girl has never danced with a cowboy before, and his rugged good looks and gentle charm are threatening to tumble the walls I’ve built around my fragile heart.
The past has a way of coming back around, though, and sometimes we can’t escape the mistakes we’ve made.
This standalone novel in the Tales Behind the Veils series is a roller coaster ride of emotions with parallel love stories that prove love is a risk no matter what age you are.

He handed me a laminated menu card from the bucket on the wall, but I noticed he didn’t take one for himself. “What do you recommend?” I asked. “A little bit of everything. You won’t know what you like until you try it.” I handed him back the menu. “Then surprise me.” His eyebrows raised a bit, but his smile grew wider. “Okay. I like it. How adventurous are you?” “I’m here, aren’t I?” He chuckled. “Any allergies? Major dislikes?” I shook my head and he continued. “You want a drink? They have cucumber water.” The thought of him sipping cucumber water was too much for me, and my laughter bubbled up and out of me before I could contain it. “What? What’s funny about cucumber water?” he asked. “Nothing,” I replied, clearing my throat and trying not to laugh again. “I’m sure it’s wonderful. Let’s have cucumber water.” “It’s good for you.” My laughter bubbled up and out again. “I’m sure it is. I would love to have some. I’m looking forward to it. I never knew cowboys drank cucumber water.” “Oh,” he said with a smirk. “I reckon cowboys drink whatever they want to. I thought you didn’t know many cowboys.” “I don’t.” He leaned forward and grinned. “Then how do you know what cowboys drink?” I laughed again, surprisingly relaxed and at ease with our banter. “I don’t. Obviously.”
